Gert Chesi is a photographer, writer and journalist. At the end of the 1970s, Gert Chesi achieved international recognition through his illustrated book "The last africans", which was translated into several languages. In 1964 Gert Chesi spent eight months in the jungle hospital of Albert Schweitzer. This is followed by publications on Lambarene, as well as the beginning of collecting and working with african art. In 1995, Chesi founded the House of Peoples in his birthplace Schwaz, a museum for art and ethnography, whose collection consists mainly of exhibits from Chesis journeys through Africa and Asia.
